Aim Small, Miss Small
We have all heard this at some point in our lives, but what, exactly, does it mean? Site picture is one of the most important fundamentals in good shooting. Aligning the rear site, front site and the target is important to proficiency and by correctly aligning it all, the shooter has much more success. As we focus on the front site and the target is a blur, how exactly do we aim small? Well, you can find a point on your target and still focus that front site in a smaller general area. If we do this "aiming" to a smaller area, then we "aim small, therefore miss small." Accuracy is as much of a state of mind as it is and act!

Throughout my time as an instructor, I have had the opportunity to teach a large amount of ladies. Many of my counterparts in the industry don't teach a lot of ladies and I am not sure why. When I was in the military, it seemed the female shooters were pushed off on me as if no-one wanted to deal with them. Guess what? I didn't mind then and I certainly don't mind now. Why, do you ask? Because females are open to learning every aspect of shooting.....not just give me a gun and let me shoot. They have realized that they might be responsible for their own safety and are doing what is needed to be able to protect themselves. I applaud that and welcome the females into all of my classes with open arms. I recently had a couple take the concealed carry class and the female had never TOUCHED a gun in her life. She rented my 9mm and when qualification time came, she performed well, shooting 38/40....outdoing her husband, who shot 37/40. I enjoy all of my clients, but it does my heart good to see ladies take control of their own self preservation!
